My HP Pavillion g7 series, windows 10 enterprise, doesn't show my network name as an available wifi connection. it has 8gb ram w/ 7.48 gb usable! wasgoing to try an upgrade to win 11 but it willNOT connect to my wifieven manually entered. I am using the ethernet cord to have access to you.The device manager troubleshooting report gives an error code as follows: 0x00028002.
I have done all the quik fixes, even reset the network. uninstalled and reinstalled the wifi adapter with noresults. I hope your sollution is both easyand reasonably promt, as I am nearly 70 and becoming myown tech was not a part of my itinerary when I retired, Lol But I am willing to learn some basics. I follow directions and pay attention to detail, if that helps. Otherwise, I guess signing up for a class should be an open option. Please and thank you in Advance, Sincerely,

@Rusty412, Welcome to the HP Support Community – it’s great to have you here!
I appreciate you taking the time to share your question. I'm more than happy to assist with this and provide a solution that works for you.
I truly admire your determination to tackle tech challenges head-on. You're doing great already by providing detailed info and trying several fixes!
Let’s walk through a few steps to help your HP Pavilion g7 running Windows 10 Enterprise detect your Wi-Fi network again. The error code 0x00028002 typically means the system can't find or connect to the specified wireless network.
Check Wi-Fi Adapter Status
- Press Windows + X → select Device Manager.
- Expand Network adapters → right-click your Wi-Fi adapter (e.g., Realtek, Broadcom, Intel) → choose Properties.
- Under General, check if it says “This device is working properly.” If not, note the error.
Update Wi-Fi Driver
- Visit HP’s official driver page for your Pavilion g7: Official HP® Support
- Enter your exact model number (usually found on a sticker under the laptop).
- Download and install the latest Wireless LAN driver for Windows 10.
Forget and Reconnect to Network
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks.
- Remove your network if listed.
- Restart your PC and try reconnecting manually.
Run Network Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
- Select Internet Connections → Run the troubleshooter.
Reset Network Settings (again, but fully)
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run these commands one by one:
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns - Restart your PC.
Check Wireless Services
- Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Ensure these services are Running and Automatic:
- WLAN AutoConfig
- Network Connections
- Network List Service
BIOS Check (Optional but Helpful)
- Sometimes Wi-Fi is disabled in BIOS. Restart your PC and press Esc or F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.
- Look for Wireless LAN settings and ensure it’s enabled.
Additional Notes:
- The “8GB RAM with 7.48GB usable” is normal due to system hardware reservations.
I hope your issue is now resolved. If not, feel free to reply and we’ll continue helping until everything’s sorted!
