My hp driver is not working properly, It disconnects frequently and most times speed drops to 15-20 kb, there's no problem with wifi
I opened f2 at startup and it says BIOS is not updated so I downloaded hp diagnostics and ran it, there it said its up to date. So i checked official hp website there's only one update available that too for Intel processors only. There's no UEIFI option in f2 at startup either, I need help. I can't even download a complete 1gb file with this laptop

@Babybeels, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like a classic case of buggy wireless drivers + possible BIOS mismatch on a Ryzen 7000-based HP laptop. Let’s fix it step-by-step.
Wireless Driver Fix (Realtek/Mediatek common issue)
Let’s first address the flaky wireless.
👉 Step A: Clean Uninstall of Wireless Drivers
- Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager)
- Expand Network Adapters
- Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter (likely Realtek/Mediatek), choose Uninstall device
- Check "Delete the driver software for this device" and click Uninstall
- Restart your PC
👉 Step B: Install Stable Driver from AMD or HP (NOT Windows Update)
- Go to HP Drivers for your 733M1AV model
- Filter by Windows 11 – 64-bit
- Under Driver-Network, install the latest Realtek or Mediatek Wireless LAN Driver
- Or try AMD Chipset Drivers directly from AMD's official site
- Use: Ryzen 7/5 7000 Series Mobile > select exact CPU
- This includes PCIe and ACPI drivers that help with power management (often fixes disconnection issues)
- Or try AMD Chipset Drivers directly from AMD's official site
BIOS Situation
This is trickier because:
- You have a Ryzen CPU but HP only shows Intel BIOS updates — that’s because their support site often detects the wrong config.
- F2 Startup BIOS (HP UEFI) sometimes doesn’t show UEFI tools if they weren’t installed or were removed (common during clean installs).
How to Check BIOS Properly
- Press F10 during boot (not F2) — this goes into BIOS Setup
- Check your BIOS version and date under System Info
- Visit this page manually: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers
- Enter your serial number (bottom of laptop or wmic bios get serial number in CMD)
- Look for BIOS updates under your specific unit
If BIOS Still Says Outdated but HP Says It's Current:
- HP UEFI Tools might be missing.
- You can reinstall them:
- Download and install HP Hardware Diagnostics UEFI from: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833
- After install, restart and press F2 — the UEFI menu should now work correctly
Optional: Power Management Tweak (Prevents Dropouts)
- Go to Device Manager
- Right-click your Wi-Fi Adapter > Properties
- Go to Power Management tab
- Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”
Also:
- In Control Panel > Power Options > Advanced Settings, under Wireless Adapter Settings:
- Set both On battery and Plugged in to Maximum Performance
Log Insight: Capability Reset
That line means your wireless adapter is resetting itself, which usually traces back to:
- A buggy driver version
- Power mismanagement from BIOS/ACPI
- Thermal throttling or interference from other devices
Fixing the driver and power settings should solve that.
- You can tether your phone via USB (or Ethernet) to download large files till the fix is done.
- Consider checking Event Viewer > System logs for repeating warnings/errors around the time Wi-Fi drops.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

@Babybeels, Thank you for your response.
Apologies for the inconvenience.
Let’s focus on an alternative way to address your BIOS and driver issues. Here's how you can proceed:
1. Update BIOS Manually from HP Website
To update your BIOS, follow these steps to find the right BIOS for your laptop model:
- Go to HP official driver support page.
- Enter your laptop’s serial number (you can find it on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop or by typing wmic bios get serialnumber in Command Prompt).
- Choose Windows 11 and 64-bit as your operating system.
- Look under BIOS in the list of drivers. If there's a BIOS update, download and install it.
Important: Follow all instructions carefully on the download page to ensure a successful BIOS update. If a BIOS update is not available for your model (which sometimes happens for Ryzen-based models), your laptop may already have the latest version.
2. Troubleshoot Wireless Connectivity Issues
Since the wireless adapter keeps disconnecting, here’s a deeper troubleshooting approach for you:
Check for Wireless Network Issues
- Restart the Router: Sometimes, wireless dropouts are due to router issues, so restarting it might help.
- Move Closer to Router: Try moving your laptop closer to the router to rule out signal strength as an issue.
Install Latest Wireless Drivers from HP’s Website
Even though the HP diagnostics tool says your drivers are up to date, it's still worth reinstalling or manually downloading them from HP:
- Head to HP's driver download page.
- Select your laptop’s model number (you can search for your model or use the serial number).
- Download and install the latest Wi-Fi drivers under the Network section.
Manual Driver Update
You can also check and install the driver manually:
- Go to Device Manager > Network adapters.
- Right-click on your wireless adapter and select Update Driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
If that doesn't fix the issue, download the latest driver directly from HP or the manufacturer (e.g., Realtek or Mediatek) and install it manually.
3. Try a Clean Install of the Wireless Driver
- Go to Device Manager > Network adapters.
- Right-click your wireless adapter > Uninstall device.
- Make sure to check Delete the driver software for this device.
- Restart your computer.
- Install the latest driver you downloaded.
4. UEFI/BIOS Issues (Missing UEFI Option)
If the F2 BIOS menu does not show UEFI options, try using F10 instead to access the full BIOS settings. If this still doesn’t work, and you're not seeing UEFI/BIOS updates available:
- HP Support Assistant: Try using HP’s software tool to check for updates. It sometimes detects things that manual searches miss.
- UEFI Issues: Sometimes, the UEFI might need a reset (or reinstall) if it’s not showing the expected options. Unfortunately, without direct BIOS updates for Ryzen models, this can be difficult to fix manually.
I hope this helps!
If my response resolves your issue, please click “Accepted Solution” to help others find the answer. Also, don’t forget to click the “Yes” button to say thanks!
Take care and have a great day.
