While troubleshooting with HP support staff over several days to restore my computer after a Windows update, at one point the rep suggested I purchase a wireless USB adapter.  A day or two later, we reinstalled Windows from a backup thumb drive and were able to connect to our network.  Is there any advantage to keeping it?  Thank you.

If your notebook's internal Wi-Fi adapter is working fine, there would be no need to have the USB Wi-Fi adapter plugged into the notebook.
