i upgraded old laptop with 4gb ram,win dows7/64pro,120gb SSD. plus new battery.Laptop seems to working pretty good. The only bottleneck is the wireless network card.Tried installing new card but it's not supported. How can I update wireless network.
Video will stream if I use ethernet connection but not with old wireless card.Would adding wireless adapter through usb port be only viable solution?Any help would be greatly appreciated,Thanks!

Hi:
Unfortunately, there is no workaround that I know of, but there is one dual band wifi adapters you can upgrade to according to the service manual. Actually there is a second one (the Intel 4965), but it would require your notebook have 3 wifi antennas, which it doesn't.

I used the below listed card in my dv6810us notebook, and it worked perfectly.
It should give you a maximum throughput of 300 MBPS on the 5.0 GHz wifi band, with an excellent signal.
Broadcom 4321AGN 802.11a/b/g/n module: HP part number 434661-001.
They are cheap on eBay, so you may want to consider picking one up and trying it out.

Make sure you get one that actually shows the HP part number on the 'Replace with HP Spare' label in the photograph.

You're very welcome.
Yes, you will need a W7 driver.
Here is the W7 driver for that card...
This package contains the Broadcom Wireless LAN Drivers that are required to enable the integrated Broadcom Wireless LAN Adapter in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.

And yes, you can certainly purchase an external USB wifi adapter.
They have some that are very small, and hardly stick out of the USB port at all. LIke this one...

Anytime.
Actually, if you have at least BIOS F.45 or newer on there, you can go as high as the T9500, so if you are planning to upgrade the processor, there is no point at stopping at the measly T7300.
Version: F.45
Fixed in this release: Fixes issue where the 1394 port may not work after resuming from Standby mode.Adds support for Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile Processors T8100, T8300, T9300, and T9500.

hello,
Well, the moment of truth has arrived.I puurchased and installed the network card you suggested but I got the same result that the new card is not supported. I guess unless there is some way to flash the BIOS with updated white list, there is no solution other than an wireless adapter through an USB port. Thanks for trying to help me out ,I really thought this was going to work.enclosed are photo of new card which did not work

You're very welcome.
Sorry that wifi card didn't work for you.
I guess it must only work in the AMD dv6500 - dv6900 models.
It worked fine on my AMD dv6810us. It originally came with an Atheros AR5007 wifi adapter.
If you do an internet search for BIOS mods, there may be some out there that may have eliminated the whitelist.
I just don't know exactly where you would find that info.
