I'd like to inform others about a workaround for the well-known randomly-wifi-disconnect issue from several series of HP-notebooks. I'd been struggling a few long days on it, trying every possible solution I could find on these pages and well beyond, but nothing helped. Because I almost always work at home I finally decided to use an ethernet connection by a ethernet-to-usb-c connector. Problem solved, but an old fashioned cable through your house, that's surely not why you buy a notebook though.  While an external usb-A-wifi-connector copied the stubbornness of the internal wifi-connector, connecting the same external wifi-connector through a usb-a-to-C-connector (so using the usb-c port of the notebook) has given me an uninterrupted connection experience for several weeks now. So, hopefully the HP-crew can finally narrow down the problem and develop a fix for this.

@ThijsBollen,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

That’s a great workaround! It seems like there’s some issue with the internal WiFi module or the USB-A port’s power delivery affecting external adapters. Using the USB-C port might bypass whatever conflict or instability is happening.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

@Asfiya03 and others: no, my problem is not solved but worked-around, which is something entirely different. It is like HP is underestimating the frustrations of many people who thought that HP is a reliable hardware partner. Read the fora and see that I am not exaggerating...

Hi @ThijsBollen,

Thank you for reaching back, my apologies that you have to go through such an issue I can understand you want to use a Wifi but are stuck to an Ethernet,

Let's try a BIOS restore on the device this will try to refresh the PC, once done, see if you can connect directly to a wifi without ethernet, if not we will try other steps to try and resolve the issue.

BIOS Restore :
1) Shutdown the computer and keep the  charger plugged
2) Hold down the Windows and B button together while the computer is still turned off.
3) Turn on the computer and continue to hold the Windows and B button until a BIOS Recovery screen appears.
4) Follow on-screen instructions and click on OK

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
