I'm torn between a really nice Toshiba Satellite and an HP Pavilion. One major difference is the display option for full HD with the HP. Is there a distinct advantage with full HD when watching movies? It's not my primary use but I have wonderd how lower resolution displays handle 1080p video.
I also wonder if the resolution might be too high for comfortable viewing in normal use. My desktop is a 24" Sony CRT set for 1600x1200 (capable of 4000x3000, absolutely gorgeous!) and it's just about at my comfort limit. Any higher resolution is still clear but all text and graphics just get too small. So I might need to run a 1920x1080 screen at slightly less resolution for normal use but use the full HD capability for special things.
Anybody have any personal experience with the HP 1920x1080 17.3" laptop screen?
Thanks for any input!

I visited a few more shops today but no one has ever seen an HP laptop with the HD screen option. I have roughly estimated that I might want to use a resolution of approximately 1200x800 for "normal" things like e-mail, web browsing, spreadsheets, etc.
So how does a mapping of a lower resolution translate to a screen designed for HD? Surely there must be someone here who works for HP who has seen this display and has some practical experience with it?
