Hi:
Did you first install the Intel chipset installation utility and Intel HD graphics driver and reboot before installing the nvidia graphics driver?

hello sir,
YES it worked but now i am facing another problem my laptop display is configured to run on the intel hd gpu not on the gt840m which is not delivering smooth performance in gaming. Pray tell me how to switch between them.I have tried disabling, uinstalling the intel one but then the microsoft basic display utility takes its place,I even opened the nvidia panel and changed the global and application setting to high end nvidia processor but it is still showing the same as earlier
Please provide me with solution
Thank you

You're very welcome.
Unfortunately, I don't know how to work a notebook with switchable graphics because I don't own one and there is no documentation from HP on how to do it either.
This is the only info I could find which doesn't seem to be of much help.
