6735s has a black screen on start up> Previously no problems.

 

  1. blue caps lock light flashes 5 times, then goes out
  2. hdd light flashes amber continuously
  3. WI Fi light on
  4. power light on

Any ideas?

Per HP that would be a general system board failure, is the unit under warranty?

this may explain the problem try thr hard reset first

hi, my notebook is doing the exact same thing, did hp tell u what was wrong and what they did to fix it.

i dont understand how it could be a board failure, bcoz my machine does this occasionally.....one day it'll do it and the next day it'll be fine.

Hello,

 

it had fried the motherboard! However the comp, unknown to me, had a 2 year service plan so HP fixed it
