I had no particular problem in the migration of my HP 8440p (CPU: i7 and 6GB of RAM) from Win7 64bit to Win10.
After the upgrade from Win7, I created a Win 10 DVD from which I restarted the installation from scratch without any problem. Please note however I have a NVidia graphics card and I did all the BIOS upgrades (I presently have F50).
My only (little) concern is about how to halt the system.
While I was with Win7, I was able to halt completely the system, while with Win10, even if I press "Halt" item of the 'stop menu', I can only go enter in a state of suspension (?) or hibernation (?) which allows to restart the system only from a black screen with a white strip which fills the screen progressively from left to right placed at the botton of the screen. It reports "resumption of the execution" or something like this (in Italian: Ripresa dell'esecuzione").
No way to really halt the system.

Topold

Hello, there will be many issues. If you consider using windows, version 10 is a major improvement too.
I've made 100% peripherals work, almost with workaround, third party such as dell drivers and luck!
Someone has got that "blank screen" problem at boot, everyone has to turn off the fast boot for halting the system.
My major issues were at first no sound through dp/hdmi,bluetooth missing, broadband router, ricoh card reader.
If you need some advices you're welcome to mail me or reply to this message. Bye Alberto
P.S. "Please HP UPDATE that CONNECTION MANAGER 4.1" It's not necessary but It'll solve many problems at once!!!

Hi!
I have an interesting problem with Quick Launch buttons app and my touchpad.
When Quicklaunch is installed the touchpad cursor goes to the top of the screen and jumps back to the top every time when I try to move it away.
If Quick launch is unistalled everything is ok with the touchpad.
Any ideas?

Jeff

For what the black screen is concerned, inmy experience, this is normal with most devices.
I'm sysadmin and I configured tens devices upgrading them from Win 7/8.x to 10 and in almost all casesI noticed this behaviour which is particularly evident after the installation of some updates requiring the reboot.
IOn the contrary I do not use fingerprint authentication so I don't know if the driver you can get from HP driver site works or not.
The only (little) problem I have, as I reported above, is that every time I restart 8440p, it does not show the HP logo: it starts like it was resuming operations, even if I did not activated at any level (BIOS/OS) the suspension/hibernation of the computer.
I noticed I have a correct restart with the HP logo only after a reboot due to the installation of some updates.

Topoldo
