I'm looking to get an hdd caddy to put in my optical drive so I can install an ssd, but I don't know whether to get a 9.5 mm one or a 12.7 mm one. My laptop model is 15-ab088ca. Can't find this info anywhere online or on my laptop.
Also, when I buy one, does it matter what brand etc it is, or will any caddy of the right size work?
Thanks!

Hi,
Should be 9.5 mm but you can also use others 12mm or 12.7mm. They will supply enough plastic or rubber to keep the HDD in place. Please check the thickness of your existing Optical Disc Drive.
Regards.

Thanks for your reply. How do I check the thickness? Where on the drive do I measure it? I measured it on the most external part and it was 11 mm... so I don't know if that means I should get one that's 9.5 mm or 12 mm.

Hi,
I think 9.5mm is the way to go, because it can't be deeper than 11mm. Now, you have to find a caddy with the same thickness otherwise it won't fit.
Regards.

Based on my computer model number is it possible to recommend a specific caddy? Any idea if this one would fit?
