I have a HP 2000-2c29WM Notebook. It has stopped turning on and makes no noise. I tried various troubleshooting methods and I think the adapter is the culprit. When the battery is in the laptop and I plug in the charger, the ac adapter light blinks white twice then nothing happens. When I take the battery out and plug in the adapter, no lights come on. I've also noticed the third prong on my adapter cord is missing (it would charge without it before but this is probably not the best thing).

I'm trying to confirm that it's more than likely my adapter cord than the battery before I shell out whatever $$ it is for a new one.

The battery (power) LED flashing means that the battery has insufficient charge to power the notebook.

Since your power adapter won't power the notebook without the battery installed, that means that either the power adapter has failed or there is a problem with the charging \power distribution circuit on the systemboard.

If you have access to another power adapter that provides the same voltage and current capacity as the original one, then you can use it to see if the notebook will boot to Windows without the battery installed. If you don't have access to one, then consider that replacing the power adapter is far less expensive than replacing the battery.

Thank you for your help.

Unfortunately I've been out of warranty since March and the other adapter I could find isn't compatible (it's 90w).

I was going to ask, can you help me find the right adapter cord? I'm having difficulty making sure I have the right cord. I think it's the 65w smart adapter but I am not sure and I don't want to purchase the wrong one. Is it OK as long as it's a 65w hp adapter?
