Hii I own a HP dv6119tx notebook pc with amd radeon HD 6490m. When i upgraded my OS from Win 7 HomeP to Win8 pro the graphics changed to HD 7400m and its not working. When i check through the device manager it shows an yellow exclamation mark on amd driver. when i try to update driver it tells windows already installed the latest driver. I then tried the amd auto detect tool to update the driver. But the downloaded file wont run in my system. So now how i make my amd gpu work and get switchable graphics

Hi:
Use the W8 amd graphics driver from this model.
Uninstall any drivers you have tried first, and reboot before installing this driver.
This package provides the AMD High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver and Catalyst Control Center for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. For notebooks with switchable graphics modes, this package includes drivers for both graphics processing units (GPUs). Switchable graphics enable users to switch between a power-saving graphics mode (normally used under battery power) and a high-performance graphics mode. If high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) video output is supported, this package also installs the HDMI Audio Driver.

Yes, that is correct.
Uninstall what you see and install that driver.
That is the only driver that will work since it was a custom driver made by Intel/AMD for the specific switchable graphics setup in your notebook.
You will never be able to update that driver, and I am not sure that driver will work if you decide to upgrade to W8.1 or W10. I doubt it will.
The driver from AMD won't work because that would be for a model that did not have the Intel/AMD switchable graphics.
