HP Pavilion g6-2238TX
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have a problem installing a working driver for the AMD Radeon HD 7600M Series graphics card.

  • HP Pavilion g6-2238TX
  • AMD Radeon HD 7600M Series
  • Windows 7 64 bit

I have tried the catalyst drivers:

  • amd-catalyst-omega-14.12-with-dotnet45-win7-64bit
  • amd-catalyst-15.4beta-64bit-win7-apr9

dirver to no avail.

I have also tried these drivers from HP too:

  • AMD High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver 8.933.3.4000 [sp58894].exe
  • AMD High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver 8.933.3.4000 REV-A [sp61715].exe
  • AMD High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver 8.941.1.0 [sp56458].exe
  • AMD Video Driver and Control Panel 8.951.6-120329B-137790C REV-A [sp57199].exe

I get the error message:

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

Hardware ids:

PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6840&SUBSYS_183E103C&REV_00
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6840&SUBSYS_183E103C
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6840&CC_030000
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6840&CC_0300

I just can not seem to get the Radeon 7600M video device to work in windows 7.

It works fine in Ubuntu.

Does anyone using it have this working?

Is there any way to get this working in windows 7?

Is there someplace else I should ask [I thought since my notebook is HP this may the correct forum]?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Also let me know if I can provide any more information.

Thanks in advance.

thank you.

Yes I had to completely remove the drivers installed previously.

Reboot.

Then install the correct driver.

I had to use this link:

as I could not get the drivers from the first one.

I grasp that the notebook came with Ubuntu and you have now installed Windows 7.  You have tried installing graphic drivers  with no success.

Here is a link to the recommended software and drivers for your notebook.

I would delete the drivers that you have previously tried to install.

Restart your notebook.

Go to download page   and choose the "check now" option.

This will allow it to scan your system and create a list of recommended updates and  HP software for your system.
