Hi there forum,
I've recently bought a HP Pavilion DV7-6105sd and I replaces the primary HDD and reinstalled a new OS on it (windows 7 ultimate Bit)
So when it was all installed and updates i wanted to see if i was missing some drivers and yes i am.
The AMD rs880m chipset drivers are not installed ( meaning USB, PCI controllers, etc arnt working) so i started looking around on the HP site for support drivers.
The only "chipset" drivers on the website for this laptop are the USB 3.0 controller ones, which are fine but they have no usb port to "control".
So my question is as followed: Are there any HP provided chipset drivers for this laptop since the original hdd isnt inside anymore or do i need to put back the old and and search on the 15gb partition where the recovery setup is located ?
With Kind regards,
Mercyfull

Did you install the latest Graphics driver from your driver page? Sometimes chipset is included in AMD packages.

Yes i did,
Ive downloaded all the drivers provided on the support page of my dv7-6105sd. And the graphics drivers only installs the GPU and none of the chipset drivers.

This Southbridge driver from AMD 'should' take care of sm bus controller.May even fix the USB issue if the above driver doesn't help. You may want to create a System Restore point before applying any of these drivers just in case you need to undo the changes.

I've tried the drivers from the big D.
2 things:
1) During install it says something about USB audio drivers wich i just ignored.
2) USB seems to work now, BUT device management still says no drivers present for the USB controller or SM serial bus controller (which is the rest fo the chipset)
So although u helped me getting my USB to work, i would still like to see the SM bus controller drivers fixxed and the actual USB controllers as well.
---------------------------------------------
I just noticed ur second reply and tried those as well. Doesnt seem to do anything since both errors as shown on the above picture still excist. USB still works tho.
----------------------------------------------
Just noticed that another problem occured, the usb is only working on one port. (right side, second port. The rest seems non responsive. Imma reboot now to see if that helps anything.

I just rebooted now the both ports on the right side work.
The left 2 ports are still non responsive and the device manager still says that there are no USB drivers for the controller or the SM bus one.

Have you tried reinstalling the USB 3.0 driver from your models support page?
If all else fails, try removing/uninstalling each problem device in Device Manager and reboot to see if any changes.

Just did that. Removed the USB controllers and the SM bus controller. Rebooted and still no "new" hardware found or drivers for them. Device management still gives me the errors.
Als o the USB 3.0 controller program (HP says those are some sort of chipset drivers) dont work, they install but then i start the actual program, it gives me an error stating that there are no USB controllers found.
