Hi,i have a HP ProBook 4530s with windows 7 home premium. Some weeks ago my ac charger short-circuited and i had it repaired by a local electrician. After he gave it back to me,it worked just fine for a while(one week) then stopped working completely. Whenever i plug it in,the ac adapter light indicator blinks about 9 times then nothing happens.

I counted my loses and bought a new charger, but it just wont work-I get the same results with my previous charger.I can use the previous charger on my laptop without the battery but the new charger wont work that way.My battery can be charged by another ProBook laptop(my room-mate') so the battery works .What could be the problem? Please help, thanks in advance

Hi,

Can you boot into Windows with the AC adapter connected and the battery removed?

Best regards,

erico

Is the charger for your roommate's notebook the same as the original one for your notebook?

Go into the Device Manager. See the following images.  Uninstall the Microsoft ACPI-Control Method Battery device. Right-click on any device in the device manager and select scan for hardware changes. The OS should reinstall the Microsoft ACPI-Control Method Battery device. Take a look at the charging state led. Is it charging now and solid amber colored instead of blinking?

In your roomate's ProBook have you run the battery diagnostic to see if the battery passes?

Does the new "charger" have the same power capacity in Watts as the original one? That is important.

I hadn't  run the battery diagnostic test on my roommates laptop, but I just did and the result came out  as good.

The two adapters have the same wattage(65),but I dont know if the repaired one still has this wattage-can it lose or gain wattage after repairs?
