So, I guess I screwed up. For some reason I was under the impression that my computer came with a 3 year warranty... as I found out today it is 1. The warranty expired about 6 months ago, and I found out that HP was honoring my warranty service requests in this period not because of the warranty, but because HP gives you 90 day warranty after service request.

Since I found out my computer has only 1 year warranty, I immediately purchased a 3 year care pack. As I wait around for the order to process I read the terms & conditions. So apperently  the PC needs to be within 30 days of warranty expiration... I'm way past that deadline. Did I just waste $200?

I also read about post warranty care packs, but those have to be purchased within 90 days of warranty expiration. And cost as much as a 3 year on site service pack for only an extra year of coverage. Although I know with 3 year I'm getting only 1.5years if I'm able to activate.

Is there a way around, or did I just completely screw myself by being somewhat absent minded. If any of you had sucess registering a care pack to an out of warranty computer let me know. I feel like a complete idiot since all my past computers were EliteBooks and I naively assumed all hp business laptops have a 3 year warranty.

Otherwise I'm in the market for a new computer...
