Hi Paul.

Thank you very much for advice. I had HP G60-214EM, could not connect to Virgin Media Modem/Wireless router-which is Netgear, before I also tried another Netgear router, but unsuccessfully. It would only work with D-Link or Belkin routers.

My model was not in supported models for this driver, but I checked in Device Manager what was my ethernet adaptor and it was Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g WiFi Adapter, so decided to try.

It worked for me, thanks.

Hi:

For those who have the following Atheros wireless adapters and are experiencing issues with connecting to the Linksys E Series routers (and maybe other routers), there is a driver available that should remedy the situation.  It is good for all Windows operating systems 32 or 64 bit.

Supported Devices and Features

Atheros AR5006 802.11a/b/g WiFi Adapter
Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g WiFi Adapter
Atheros AR5009 802.11a/g/n WiFi Adapter
Atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter
Atheros AR9380 802.11 a/g/n WiFi Adapter
Atheros AR9382 802.11a/g/n WiFi Adapter
Atheros AR9485 802.11 b/g/n WiFi Adapter

I have a dv7-1245dx that the wireless card just stopped working while I was deployed with the military earlier this year. Being in the middle of Afghanistan I had limited resources and ended up having to buy an external wireless network adapter to be able to get online. When I got back in the States and still couldn't get it to work, I eventually reinstalled the OS and everything but still couldn't get it to work. Today, thanks to finding this thread, I was finally able to get it fixed with the driver update and can get rid of the antenna and pig-tail making the laptop truly portable again. Thank you!

I have a HP Pavillion dv7-4169 with a Atheros wireless card (AR9285). I have read other posts about random disconnects and I have similar problems. I have updated the driver and it still does it. I have good signal quality. I disabled power save on the network adapter and it still does it. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate. Any ideas?

Hi, John:

Click on the adapter in the device manager. Then click on the advanced settings tab. If there is a roaming setting, set that to low or conservative.

Also you may want to change the channel your router is broadcasting on. You may be getting interference on the channel you are currently using from other neighbor's equipment.

Try changing it to channel 1 or 11 in your router's web based configuration menu.

I don't have a roaming setting in the advanced tab but I will try changing the channel. I had thought of that after I posted my reply.  I can see a lot of wireless networks in my area so that could be the problem.  I will let you know.  Thank you for the quick reply.
