Hello,

I read some of this thread but can't find a solution for own problem.

I bought a EliteBook 2560p notebook from a company which bought new computers and sold their "old" equipment.
Unfortunately my notebook is set with a BIOS password, which they don't know.

Reading this thread it mostly talks about a code that will be shown after I hit ENTER three times for password entry, but on my notebook there is NO code shown, it just tells that I have to restart the system using the power button.

Unfortunately my system is set to do a network boot first, so I have a hard time having to change to harddrive boot each time I have to restart the system. I also would like to do a BIOS upgrade to the latest version.

What can I do to reset my BIOS password?

Thanks a lot in advance and Best Regards,

Sometimes laptops have a BIOS RESET "switch" that, if you short those two points together while booting, it will reset the BIOS to factory..

Pull off the Memory cover and any labels that are covering the mothboard..

Look for two little solder dots that are close (very close) together that you can bridge..

WARNING:  Such actions are not for the faint of heart and may actually destroy a laptop's motherboard..

Only attempt if A> You are a qualified tech and/or 2> don't mind losing the laptop...

It sounds like it might be hard to find those two solder dots.
Any picture or more specific description where to find those?
Do they exist for the 2560p?

As I don't have the notebook at hand right now I can't check yet.

While I would not have an issue shortening those two dots I wouzld like to be "sure" to use the correct dots though.

Thanks and Best Regards,

I agree, definitely want to be sure...  😄

I don't really have a picture and it's possible that your particular model doesn't even have this capability..

But the fact that it doesn't give you a "lock out code" when you enter 3 incorrect passwords indicates to me that it might.

I can't see that they would build a system with absolutely no back door whatsoever...

Andgenth,

See my solution for BIOS Password in this video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bs8p927SyVU

I also have videos and documentation to force BIOS update without Admin password

Well, I guess now it is a question of trust...

Aren't there any other non-"tool" related ways of resetting the BIOS password?

Hi Mazzif,

Would your process work with a HP Pavilion 14-n218us that is giving me a SYSTEM DISABLED [82350691] code??

Michale,

It will not, but this code 33038217 should work as a password for you to unlock
