 Hi

I am working on a Compaq Presario 2188CL notebook for a friend who had someone else work on it first. Long story short it now has a password lock on the BIOS setup and no one will claim it..... I would rather not tear it apart to kill the power to the chip. Anyone know a backdoor for this?

TIA

Create a HiRens BootCD on USB. Boot from it and use the BIOS password utility to blank or change the BIOS password. Removing the RTC battery won't clear the password. Those days are gone.

You are doing this on your own..Do not blame me if it does not work for you.
