I am having trouble getting my computer's battery to work.
This computer was bought as a gift for me (the person's parent works for HP and I think they may get one for free from time to time). I have had it for about 5 months now.
The battery hasn't ever been able to hold a charge, but I've always thought that I just needed a new battery. I recently actually took the time to troubleshoot and it seems that the battery may not be the problem. I'm curious what I should do next:
1. I have already tested the power cord. It turns on without the battery in the computer. And the LED light next to the power input turns on.
2. The icon shows that the battery is always charging but it never goes above 0%. It also always powers off the minute the power cord is removed.
3. I did the component battery test by pressing f2 during start up. It said the battery was functioning fine.
I don't have the warranty information since the computer was a gift. Any other ideas of things I should be doing?
