Hi,
I'm having issues with my computer not charging. I have an
HP Pavilion dm4t-2100 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC
Model: LX124AAR
When the problem first occurred the charging status was "Plugged in, and Charging" and the light near the plug was orange. However the battery charge was decreasing. After a few minutes, the status changed to "Plugged in, not Charging". My HP battery eventually drained and I was dependent on the AC adapter.
I ordered a new plug and a new battery.
I've run the following tests:
-----
With the Original Battery-
(most of the time when the Battery is taken out (while turned off) then put back in, the status on the desktop is "plugged in, charging" for at least a few minutes and the LED light is flashing.
*note that the original battery has no charge

----
Tests with the New Battery
(When new battery is connected the LED light is orange and status is "plugged in, charging")
*battery charge began at 50% and is now 48%

After reading problems from other people I've also run a hard disk check and the tune up check at the F2 Diagnostics start up screen
I read in another post that it could help to Flash/Upgrade the BIOS
I installed the HP Notebook System BIOS update from the HP site, turned off all other programs and ran the update.
At this point i had the original battery installed in the computer and the computer was plugged in.
As the update was running, my computer appeared to be restarting (intiated by the program). However before it seemed to turn off all on its own, there was a small electric click noise, and the screen went black. The LED HP light remained on, the internet light was on but orange, and the Cap Locks light was blinking -1 blink every few seconds. Unsure if this was part of the BIOS Flash I left the computer in that state for a few hours.
Upon returning I saw it was still in the same state, so I looked up the problem. I then followed directions to turn the comptuer off, unplug the AC adapter, and take out the battery, then hold down the power button for 15 seconds - replace the battery and turn back on.
When I did this, the computer started back up properly.
However it no longer starts up with the original battery connected. only with the new battery. And the original no charging problem still exists.
Unsure what happened with the BIOS Flash , I re-read the instructions and updated again. This time with out any battery connected to the computer. The BIOS update completed.
However, now, I still have the orginal problem and my old battery will no longer work with the computer (it turns on, black screen, LED lights and Fan on, blinking cap locks, 1 blink every few seconds)
Thanks in advance for any time and help!

Thanks for the help,
I followed the steps, I put the original battery back in and plugged in the power adapter to start it back up (step 08) and I had the same problem as before with the black screen and LED lights.
I tried again with the new battery, it powered up as before, and again says plugged in, charging. But it does not appear to be charging and the battery test still says Replace and gives the same error code as before.
