Storage, cpu or ram shouldnt matter with sphinx fix since the patch addresses the thunderbolt firmware which all models have.

Reyemtm, I have the same model as you and it does help.

I wonder if anyone can confirm if any one of these laptop is OK.

Have you checked that its flashed properly with the included PD checker?

Does anyone know if this will degrade the batery faster? In that case would we be able to get a free replacement battery since it's like a manufacturing defect?

I bought my PC in early October, so it's not just Nov/Dec production.

If you do a battery check in support assistant  under diagnostic it will tell youa bout the battery..

it even tells you when the battery was made on all my models it was made in sept.

I think hp is feeding us B.S. turn this off turn this off.  eventually we might not be able to turn on our laptops lol

Thanks for the heads up, im definitely gonna check that out if I decide to send it in for a battery replacement. For now though, I think im gonna wait for the promised bios update (according to a previous post) that's supposed to be released sometime in the next two weeks and see if that fixes the issue.

Pretty annoying since I absolutely love the machine, great build quality, great connectivity (for my use) and excellent battery life when im using it). I plan to buy a egpu case later on and that PD firmware (sphinx) might actually screw that up for me since it leaves PD firmware at version N/A. Although the sphinx fix greatly reduces battery drain for me, it's not perfect, I want it to be perfect.

For the people that think they have a fix with the update they did

Test this:

Enable USB charging from the BIOS

Enable Fast Boot

and report back.

I've done that, enabled fast boot and usb charging. I started it up and waited until it dropped from 100% to 94% and shut it down. Im gonna let it be for 24 hours and see what it says.
