a laptop which is 100% and then turned on should not drop to 94% in minutes.

even watching HD 1080p video will not drop your battery 6% in a matter of minutes.

the sheer fact that laptop remains at 100% of being uplugged and turned on is a fib, as batteries in laptops no matter the brand will at least drop 1%.

the system remains at 100% unplugged turned on and then drops to 94% in minutes, these numbers are fibbed.

This issue has been around since the last version and they haven't fixed it. I hope I am wrong but I don't have any confidence in this incompetent company to believe that a fix is on the way.

What I don't agree with is that you said was that "It is JUST" fibbing numbers. I'm saying that it has resulted in an overall improvement for MY spectre. Whether that is true for yours or not, I don't know, but the battery drain on mine has lessened significantly. Whether the actual numbers that are displayed are accurate is not what I'm referring to. My spectre is no longer dead or near dead after being off for several days as it was before.  To me, that means that something has changed. It's not just a difference in the numbers that it's displaying.

I agree that the 100% to 94% is a fib... But all operating systems/firmware must do this as all Lithium Ion batteries are bound to lose a larger percentage of their charge when at 100%..

Check back a couple of pages this was gone over a couple of times.

I think this is as good as it is going to get.

I posted a few days ago regarding the process I went through to 'fix' this issue and am now reporting back with my results for your information I think this could be helpful to many of you:

I called HP Australia spoke to a technician on the phone who was aware of the issue and sent me the same sphinx update. However, I was asked for the specific serial number of my machine so that the appropriate updates could be sent to me. Apparently machines with different build dates have slightly different issues, requiring different sphinx update versions which could explain the variable results users on this forum have reported after using the sphinx update that was shared by one of the users some time ago.

I've gone from losing 10-15% while shut down in 24 hours to an acceptable 1-2%. I'm happy with this and as far as I'm concerned it's 'case closed' and im ready to move on and use my laptop...

Good luck to you all

My machine is now consistently showing only a 1% drop in battery capacity overnight (12 hours).

I don't think this is even an issue any longer.

I sent my machine in for repairs around the 8th, and i received it back on the 13th. My version was the w010ca 13 inch Spectre x360.

On average I was losing 1.5 pecent per hour when shutdown. Now that it's "repaired" I'm losing 0.5 percent per hour on average. Which is STILL RIDICULOUS.

I contacted HP again letting them know that the "repair" only lowered the drain but did not fix it. So now they want me to send it back in AGAIN... Currently another box is on its way for the second repair... The support guy also escalated my case so that I may speak to someone about getting a refund on this machine.

Also, on my notice when i got my repair back it only said

"Defective Commodity, Fail Reason(s), Repair Action(s):

CABLES: DISCONNECTED/LOOSE; Reinstall or Reconnect Cables"

However when i was chatting with the support agent I asked if there was any inforamtion about what had been done and they said that the motherboard was replaced.

soo, yeah...

I like the laptop alot, but this whole experience makes me want to have a refund. And if i do send it in for the second repait and the issue still persists after then HP deserves trouble.

Hi pqkiller666,

you mentioned amongst others "Windows Anniversary Update (from Win10 website)".

Is that safe to do? I have read others experiencing battery drain problems.

Please let me know, thanks in advane,
