HP Latitude e3350
Linux

Recently replaced Windows 7 with Linux Ubuntu 16.04 on my HP Latitude e3350.  I noticed that the battery was not charging, so I thought maybe it was just a bad battery.  It is not.  My wife has the same laptop, and the battery charges fine on her computer, and her battery does not charge on my computer.

Could it possibly be a driver or something on the laptop that needs to be updated now that I have switched over to Linux Ubuntu?  It works fine with a charged battery (i.e. it will still run on battery power on a charged battery), and it works fine attached to A/C.  It just won't charge any battery.

I already tried the power off, hold the power button, turn back on solution.  That was  unsuccessful.

Any thoughts?

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

The more likely situation is that the software that detects the battery low condition and then activates the charging function is simply not working properly in the Linux distro you loaded.

HP only warranties their PCs for usage with the OS that comes preinstalled. IF you replace that or add a different OS, then you assume full responsibility for maintaining that other OS -- as HP then provides no assistance on that.

Your best bet for Linux support, since HP does not provide Linux drivers, is to contact the support forum for the Linux distro you are trying to install -- in this case, the Ubuntu Forums: http://ubuntuforums.org/

Good Luck
