I have a Pavilion dv6000 that's about 2 and a half years old and recently it doesn't want to charge unless the cord is being held in a specific direction.
I know it's not the cord that's causing the problem, because:
1.) this isn't the original cord that came with the computer (the old one caught on fire 3 months ago, so I had to buy a new one at best buy)
2.) I tested it on my mom's computer (which is the same as mine) and it worked just fine.
The problem seems to lie in the port thingy that the charger sticks into. When the cord is plugged in, it's loose and wobbles around really easily. I want to know if this is something easily fixed or will I have to send it in? I'm worried that if it can't be fixed, it will eventually stop charging, and my battery doesn't last long at all (it's the original battery), but I never take my laptop anywhere, so that isn't really a problem for me (except now when it's not wanting to charge).
I can't afford a new computer at the moment, and I desperately need it for school work (I'm a digital arts major). Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time.

I have had to replace my motherboard twice already and I think I'm going to have to buy a third one, and replaced the power supply. It just these laptops, my brother has the exact same as me and he's had to replace his power supply too.

You may be able to repair it call hp and they can possibly send you the replacement for the port. If you are under warranty still I would send it in because messing with that would void your warranty.
