@jeromeb1238 wrote:I have a similar problem as referenced in this string. However, when I run HP Diagnostics and run the Memory Test, Start Up Test, or Run-In Test every time it gets to the Memory diagnostic the computer screen goes blank, it sounds like the hard drive stops/slows down, yet power is still on.
does the solution provided below work? If so, I don't have a RescueRepair CD. Is there a place to download the Rescue/Repair? Can I use a flash drive or would it have to be a CD?
Thanks

Hello Olaglam,
I understand you laptop at this time will not boot correctly. I will do all I can to help you resolve this issue.
First thing I need to get from you is the full make and model of the computer your using. You did provide G50 but HP created about 10 different G50 series computers. If you are not sure how to locate that information see the links below for a little help.
Please respond at your earliest convenience.
Thanks

Thanks for your reply Olaglam,
First thing we want to do is a hard reset:
1. Turn computer off and remove all cables and external connections, please remove the battery as well.
2. Then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds.
3. Once that is done hook up the battery and ac adapter only.
When you turn the computer on tap the F8 key repeatedly, hopefully you get to black screen with a list of options. Toggle down to safe mode with networking and press enter, if the computer loads correctly you will be in an environment where everything is a lot bigger than normal. (Sometimes this trick is sensitive so you might have a try it a couple times)
If you get to the main desktop screen go to the start button in the button left corner, type msconfig (Do not press enter), if you look at the top you will see that option to choose. Once you click on that a box will display, click on the startup tab and then click on disable all, after that press apply and they ok. The computer will ask to be restarted go ahead and do that. At that point the computer will try to load normally.
Please respond at your earliest convenience. Let me know me know your results.
Thanks

Hello again Mth0csc,
Alright boot back into bios menu once there press F9 to setup defaults accept the prompt that comes up, then press F10 to save and exit and see if it boots.
If the same thing occurs shut down the computer and I want you reseat the hard drive and the ram, which pretty much means take the hardware out and put it back in. Only do this if you feel comfortable, here is the service manual that will show you how to remove the hardware if you’re unsure how. Instructions to remove hard drive are on page 43 and memory on page 47. Again if you’re not comfortable with this process you don’t’ have try it, if your able to once you finished try to boot up again and see what happens.
Please respond at your earliest convenience.
Thanks
