Hi,
Suddenly (after scanning my HP Pavilion dv6-2120ew Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit) with one Registry cleaner I got the same problem - Unable to start the Bluetooth stack service. Before that everything was allright.
I have checked my services - I have BTtray running but I'm missing BTstack.exe
I have checked Bluetooth drivers under Device Manager, so I have the newest.
Now it is impossible to make connection with my phone and after I go to run my notebook I get after few minutes every time message like above - Unable to start the Bluetooth stack service.
Please give advice and explain what to do.
Regards,
Leckxx

Hello everyone,
Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!
I understand the Bluetooth Stack Service cannot be started. Before anything else, go to the Start Menu. Type "services.msc" in the search bar and hit enter. In the list of services, try to start all Bluetooth services.
If it doesn't work, this is either a hardware issue or an extreme software issue. If you are interested in troubleshooting further, I would perform a System Recovery to reinstall Windows. This will rule out which of the above options are to blame.
First, you should backup your data. I will provide information on how to do that: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 7)
Once this is done, it is safe to do the System Recovery. Here is some information on how to do this: Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 7)
Please let me know what happens. Thanks!

I am having the same problem. I followed your directions have it appears I have twodrives. I am currenbtly using an external USB Bluetooth. Could one of these be that driver,
USB\VID_8087&PID_07DC&REV_0001
USB\VID_8087&PID_07DC

Hi dacornman,
Thank you for your query.
Pllease remove your external Bluetooth USB to avoid causing any issues with it, and eliminate the confusion about the drivers as it will no longer be in the equation.
Would you try these steps please.
Step 1. Go to device manager
Step 2. Right click on "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" that you want
Step 3. Select "Update Driver Software..."
Step 4. Choose "Browse my computer for driver software"
Step 5. Choose "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
Step 6. Select "Ports (COM & LPT)"
Step 7. Select "Microsoft" at "Manufacturer" list
Step 8. Finally select "Standard Serial over Bluetooth link"
As well you can try this:
Step 1: Go to RUN (Windows Logo + R) and type “services.msc” and Enter
Step 2: Now find “Bluetooth Support Service” and double click on it
Step 3: Now click on Log On Tab and Type in "Local Service" without quotes
Step 4. Click on “This Account”
Step 5: Now remove any passwords leave the password field blank
Step 6: Underneath the upper left title should be a hyperlink "Start" Click it
Please also check in Device Manager
Right click on the Bluetooth device and choose properties.
Click the power management tab.
Uncheck the box that said "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."
If you are still having an issue I would do a recovery as suggested in the previous post.
I hope this helps
