1. Product Name and Number : HP Pavilion g4-1319tu notebook
2. Operating System Installed : Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
3. Error message : None
4. Any changes made to your system before the issue occurred : None that I can recall specifically
I had Bluetooth cabability after my initial purchase about 2 months ago. I haven't tried to use Bluetooth since then until about 3 days ago when I discovered that Bluetooth seems to be missing from Control Panel and from Device Manager

ThaiGuy,
I hate BlueTooth issues. They either solve easily or they hang about and drive you nuts. I do not have a magic answer. I will throw you a life line and wish you luck.
Sometimes, it is just a matter of resetting the Notebook (a Hard Reset). Sometimes, it is a matter of making sure the battery is charged (Bluetooth hates low batteries)... Sometimes it is a matter of reinstalling the driver.... Sometimes it is a matter of tossing the notebook (gently) onto the nearest chair and ignoring for a day.
Here is the "Hard Reset".
This is a Very Good Thing to Know (for many bad little things that happen to notebooks):
==========================================================================
Hard Reset:
This method works for a variety of connection and ‘stuck’ program issues.
- Disconnect all external devices first.
- Remove AC power and the battery
- Press and hold power button for at least 30 seconds
- Reinstall only AC power for first startup ** See Note
- Power on - Log in
- Next time you shut down the system, reinstall battery.
** Note: If time is short, reinstall battery the first time and be done with it.

Here is the "How to" document on Bluetooth Issues - and there are so many things that go wrong....

Look in Category "Driver" for the Bluetooth drivers...

Then Look in Category "Software Solutions" for the HP Connection Manager to help you reconnect it...

I hope this helps.
Good Luck!

Thank you VERY much for your very helpful and thorough answer. I had been searching for solutions for hours and hours in Windows 7 Help (not much of use there), Windows 7 Troubleshooting in Control Panel (nothing specific for Bluetooth) and the internet / HP Support Forum (a very few references to HP Wireless Assistant / HP Connection Manager), trying this and that (re-installing drivers, etc.) to somehow get Bluetooth working using only the Windows 7 operating system, but without success obviously. After reading your reply, I did as you advised, including downloading and installing the HP Connection Manager for my HP notebook model. I was finally able to (re-)enable Bluetooth using the Connection Manager utility, with 2 new listings — Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network) and Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI) — magically appearing in my Windows 7 Device Manager’s list of Network Adapters, when previously there had been only Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 1030.
The HP Connection Manager was not pre-installed on my computer bought in Thailand, and I would never have learned of it without having first been guided to it by you (and a few other references). You would think there would be SOME way to easily do this (enable / disable / re-enable the Bluetooth radio and adapters) using only the Windows 7 operating system, without having to resort to the HP Connection Manager. Is there a way, by the way?
Anyway, the problem is now solved. Thank you again for your help.

ThaiGuy,
I am glad it is working! You are welcome.
========================================================================
The HP Connection manager is a "user friendly" method to turn on/off the wireless and bluetooth connections and to manage the setup. Once you have everything set up, I'd think you can just use the wireless on/off button on your keyboard to switch your wireless on/off and be done with it.
Every manufacturer adds their own "value added" software to Windows 7 (and soon Windows 8). One can get along without a lot of it; it is easier to move from one computer to another if you never use any of it. Having said that - the HP Connection Manager is one of the only things between you and "Bluetooth chaos". Keep it around. Smiling.
=========================================================================
"Task Bar Notifications" can be set up so the wireless / bluetooth icon shows up in the Task Bar:
- Control Panel > icon view > Notification Area Icons >
- Temporarily UNCHECK "Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar"
- Under "Behaviors" > Select for each Icon the desired behavior from the drop down menu for that icon
- CHECK "Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar"
Once the Task Bar is set up, you can right click on the HP Connection Mgr ICON to open the HP Connection Manager, the Network Manager, or to turn ON / OFF "Airplane mode"
========================================================================
Good Luck!
