I have the same problem for G6 Pavilion 1003 tx, I have tried

1. Turning off Sticky Keys

2. Uninstalling the keyboard driver from device manager and rebooting the system

Still problem persists

Hello NikHail19 and Azharuddin,

After having to recover your OS, and then the shift keys not functioning properly, to assist you with this I would need to know the full model number of your computer. I have included the 'Guide to finding your product number'.

Azharuddin,

I have included the following document, 'Notebook Keyboard Troubleshooting (Windows 7)'. Please select the options for Pressing keys does nothing (keyboard is not working), Stuck key, and Reinstall or update the keyboard software. Follow through each of these 3 sections in order for the best result.

Please let me know if this resolves the stuck shift keys, thank you.

Alright I Tried Almost Everything, Still Both The Shift Keys Don't Work

1. Checked For Filter Keys - Unchecked

2. Uninstalling Keyboard Driver From Device Manager And Rebooting

3. Using Key Tweak - To Remap Keys

4. Removing The Key And Cleaning And Fixing It Back

5. Pressing Both Shifts At A Time For Few Seconds 10-15 Seconds

Should Try

6. Connecting External Keyboard

7. Internal Loose Connection

May Be I Need To Go To A HP Service Centre, Problem Could Be A Hardware

Thanks For The Support Lisa

Hi,

Thank you for the information. At this point since you have followed through all the steps in the document. Please do try an external keyboard. This will tell us if it is an issue with the keyboard itself or with the computer.

Please let me know if you are able to use the external keyboard, thank you.

Hey Lisa,

When I Connect An External Keybaord, The Shift Keys Are Working.. So I Think It Might Be An Hardware Issue

Thanks For Your Time

Hello,

Thank you for the information. Since you are able to use an external keyboard properly, this would definitely indicate that there is a hardware issue with the keyboard. I would suggest contacting technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region please click the link below to get the support number for your region. http://www.hp.com/cgi-bin/hpsupport/index.pl. For any repair or replacement options that are available to you.

Both of my shift keys do not work, but the one on the left side of the keyboard will work if I hold both shift keys down for several seconds, but only temporarily. The left side shift key may work for a minute, but the right one will not work at all. After a minute or so, both will not work until I hold down both shift keys again for several seconds, in which the left side shift key will then only work temporarily. Any help would be great, thanks.

Hello Mosey,

Did you try all the procedure I have told in the above comments which are numbered.?

If you have tried everything, try connecting an external keyboard if there is same problem with external keyboard then you have some software problem..

If you have no problem with the external keyboard then you've got to replace your laptop keyboard

Hope that helps
