Hi,

I've got an HP G56 Notebook PC running windows 7 64 bit OS.

Product no. XZ466EA#ABU

It has 3GB of RAM but apparently it can be upgraded to a max 8gb.

Is this true and would it be worth doing and if so would i see a great improvement in it's performance?

Thanks

Hi,

It's up to your decision, back to the good old days, I paid A$240 for just 32Mb (yes Mb) for my tiny Toshiba Libretto (around year 2000). The RAM of both slot may not be the same, please check this:

Hi,

You can not see vast improvement from 3Gb to 8Gb, only from 1Gb to say 4Gb. But still some improvement. RAM is very cheap now, why not.

Thanks for that.

Do you think it's worth upgrading to 8GB seeing as though its on £28 for 2 x 4gb ram.

Also, the diagnostic software I ran said that there was a 2gb and 1 gb ram being used.

I was always led to believe that the ram sizes had to match in both slots ie 1gb & 1gb or 2gb & 2gb !

I know, I remember those days.. I once had a ZX81 which had next to nothing for memory and I paid a fortune for a 16kb upgrade, yes kilobytes. This was circa 1980.
