I have an HDMI and a VGA port, and an Intel 3000 HD graphics chip. Can both of those outputs be active at the same time? I don't have the monitor for HDMI to test it myself but I'd like to know before I buy one. Thanks!

That's a pretty cool device. I guess it just tells the computer it is a very widescreen monitor, and then handles splitting the signal itself. Kinda expensive for what we've got though, as long as the computer can already do that function 🙂

it does the same your notebook would do by itself if you connected 2 monitors, one over vga, one over hdmi, and set each to extended desktop in the display options. it just does that for 2 vga monitors, since you dont have 2 vga ports.
you can still connect 2 monitors, one over vga, one over hdmi, without any additional hardware or even software, and run 3 displays simultaneously.

Help! I am trying to do this. I have my Pavilion DM4 hooked up to 2 monitors: one using a VGA cable and the other with a DVI-to-HDMI cable. I want the screen extended across both these screens and the buiit in laptop display. Windows Home Premium does not allow me to extend across all 3. I can only extend across the laptop and one of the monitors. What am I doing wrong?
I have Ultramon too but that only helps once the actual screens are already extended! Please help!

I have not been able to get it to work either.
Possibly the graphics card cannot support the total resolution required by the three monitors simultaneously.
But it would be nice to have rather than spending the $150 or more for a DoubleHead2Go adapter....
It might be feasible to get a graphics driver update to handle that, but I doubt whether this is likely to come from HP... who are notoriosly poor in providing firmware or updates for their sold compter and laptop base.
