HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hi i have a HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC  and i was wondering if it was okay to leave it charging after it reachers 100%. I like to leave a game open and do other things but if i leave it unplugged it usually dies before i can get back to plug it in. The battery type is 4-cell Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) 2800 mAh. I tried to look it up on other sites but they say that lithium ion is different from li-ion but on other sites they same are the same thing??? So I would like to know if leaving it plugged in after it reachers 100% is okay and will not overcharge and damage battery life?

Hi:

Today's notebook's have smart batteries and smart adapter chargers which know when to stop charging the battery.

So, it is OK to leave it plugged in for extended periods of time.

However, you should not always leave the charger connected...once a month you should disconnect the power adapter and run the notebook off the battery if you always leave the charger connected.

See this battery care guide for further info.
