he pushed the F11 key for you

 

bingo OS reloaded, back to HP day1, state.

 

this solution is posted here over like 100,000 times (if the hardware is ok, then this ALWAYS works, and sure data loss )

and is in the sticky posts on top. of this forum and on the HP main support site.

 

 

"how to reload OS"

 

F11 can fail if hdd bad, or virus toasted the restore partitions in any way!

HP media kit works every time, for sure with new SSD drive,  best update any old pack can get.... read 'FAST"

best of best is always have a HP media kit ,ready,

that way, when the old HDD dies, you can fix it in 1hr.

all HDD die, not one ever runs forever,  they all die. and with it , most or all your data.
