Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The HP Support assistant app on my notebook is showing a RED exclamation mark (!) but when I start it up and scan for new messages and updates there is nothing critical or even informational that is in an unread status. All updates have been installed and verifited. I cannot seem to clear this Red ! status that is showing in the round question mark (?) blue icon for the HP support assistant that shows up in the bottom right of my windows 10 notifications on my HP Notebook - 17-p161dx (ENERGY STAR).

@Matthew407 Welcome to HP Forums!

NOTE:

Not all updates are necessary; some are simply recommended. You do not have to download and install all updates, however, if you do not, the exclamation mark will continue to show on the HP Support Assistant icon.

I suggest you check if the updates with the issue are available online: Click here to verify, if it is available, please go ahead and install it directly from the website, let me know if that works,

  • If it does, restart the computer and check if the HP Support assistant still shows the same update, if yes, click on ignore or cancel it.
  • If it doesn't work either, restart the computer, install the latest BIOS & Chipset drivers, uninstall & then reinstall the HP Support assistant and then check if it works.

Let me know how that pans out,
