Make sure you have latest updates for your Windows 8 installed, then try installing .NET framework 3.5...

There's an offline pack too http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=25150   but here also ensure first Windows 8 is upto date.

Hey delsolkm14,

It's possible that your system is downloading Windows Updates in the background. If that is the case, then it won't let you install the .NET Framework through Control Panel or through the application requesting it.

Try checking if Windows Update is running: Open Control Panel (Windows key + X, click Control Panel). If it says "No new updates" then it's idle. If it lists updates, or says "checking for updates", then it is probably working on downloading or installing updates.

Let it finish and then restart, and you'll be good to go. Alternatively, you can disable automatic updates (in Control Panel -> Windows Update); however I would highly recommend just letting all of the updates install, restarting the computer, and then trying to install .NET again.

Please let us know if it works.

the SFC/SCANNOW did not find any integrity violations.

I am downloading the dotnetfx35 file now, but I think I have tried this before and it didn't work, but doing it again.

I am set to update windows automatically and it was idle when I have tried to download in the past, so don't think that is the issue.

Well, I downloaded the file (took 30 minutes) and it is doing the same thing, saying the following features could not be installed.

Restart your PC and check if still not then might be a broken install of Windows 8.

Try PC Refresh or a PC Reset. (Start screen >Charms>Settings> Change PC settings>General  )Then try installing .

Take backup of your data before doing this.

What locale do you have set for your computer?  Apparently certain language packs can cause trouble with .NET 3.5 install.

Have you tried to switch to english locale and then install?

It was set to english.

I just re-installed Windows 8 and everything seems to be working now. Just have to go back and download everything had on it before.
