Spectre 360x
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My question is:  Is there a way to take out my HP Spectre 360x laptop battery, connect it to an external charging device, charge it safely, then reinstall the battery in my computer?

My DC jack no longer works.  I found this out one day when I was working on my computer and received a low battery notification.  The charger was plugged in, but was not charging the battery.  I tried my wife's power cord (she has an HP laptop too) and it wouldn't charge the computer.  Both chargers worked on my wife's laptop.  I spent the remaining battery life scrambling to back-up any files from the computer's memory.

After some over-the-phone troubleshooting, HP's solution was to replace the motherboard.  This solution is not worth the money to me.

Not satisfied with HP's solution, I had a local computer store look at it.  They thought they could fix it by changing out the DC jack.  They bought a replacment jack (about $20) only to realize that the motherboard has a short.  Their conclusion after their physical trouble-shooting was that it would require a new motherboard too.  They offered to remove my data, but at an (understandably) hefty price.

The intent of my question is determine if I can create a process to charge my battery independently of (externally from) the computer, put the battery back in, and run my computer normally.  My computer definitely still works fine, it just doesn't charge.  This would either be a one-time process so I could remove all my files from my computer, or if the solution is convenient, set my system up where I could remove the battery and charge it over night, then reinstall the battery each morning and use it for the life of the battery.
