Pavillion dv7-6178us
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Just need a download of the OS to reinstall on this system.  My Boss brought the machine in after failing to complete the task.   Using linux I have wipped the drive writting zeros and random characters multiple times so all data on the system is toast.  The drive has been wipped clean, microsoft is no help with an iso download and I don't have an old windows 7 home premium disk to use with the key present on the machine.

I don't want the HP bloatware, just need options to download the OS from HP so a clean install can be completed and this nighmare returned to my boss.

Hi @windowsisavirus,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you want to order the recovery kit for your HP Pavilion dv7-6178us Entertainment Notebook PC to reinstall the operating system.

And here's the step by step guide for you in the link: Obtaining HP Recovery Discs or an HP USB Recovery Drive

You may also contact HP phone support for further assistance at the link: www.hp.com/contacthp

You have a good day ahead.
