My Compaq Presario CQ60-418DX (p/n VG674UAR#ABA) recently started booting up with wireless disabled. I need to push the wireless button (twice) to enable it. It is a minor nuisance, but I would appreciate any help you can offer.

Hi,

Try the following.

Open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click on the entry for HP Wireless Assistant and select Uninstall.

When this has completed, restart the notebook.

When windows has reloaded, download and reinstall HP Wireless Assistant from the link below.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp44501-45000/sp44700.exe

When the installation has completed, restart the notebook.

When windows has reloaded, open HP Wireless Assistant, click the Properties button, enter a tick against 'Independent controls for installed wireless devices' and then click the 'Turn on all' button.

Regards,

Thanks, that fixed my problem. Wireless Assistant wasn't installed, so I didn't need to uninstall it. I had previously tried to install a different version of Wireless Assistant (using SP49408.exe) but I got an error saying that it was incompatible with my system. Thanks again
