Greetings,
I own a Compaq Presario cq56 laptop for a some time and never had any problem with it. Today around 7:00 - 7:20 AM I started up the pc and worked fine, with no problems. I closed it and then when I tried to boot it up again around 7:45 - 8:00 I got this black screen. Nothing was there, not even the big "Q" logo I always saw on startup.
Decided to wait and see if it's the display causing problems, so I waited for it to "boot up" and see if I hear the Windows start sound. Nothing.
After googling around a good bit, I came to the conclusion that it may be a mobo/cpu failure, as nothing is loading, the cpu fans work, no beeping noise, but the caps-lock keeps blinking. 1 blink around every 3 seconds or so.
If it helps, a year or so ago, I went with it to change the thermal paste and get it cleaned up for dust. Anyway today something didn't work, and I wonder what could cause that (especially when ~25 minutes before it was working just fine). Anyone got any answers?
Note: before suggesting hard resetting and getting the battery out and so on, don't bother, already tried. Also don't have another monitor around, would use a tv, but my TV has a hdmi slot and the laptop only has VGA (wouldn't bother buying any adapter/cables for now). Please answer ASAP.

Hi @Arturia ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about your Compaq Presario CQ56 Notebook and getting a blank or black screen on startup. Here is a link to computer won't start for Windows 7.
When performing a hard reset or troubleshooting, please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices.
If that does not help at the end of the document it shows you to do a hardware test.
Have you tried reseating the memory and the HDD?
Hope this helps.
Thanks.

First, you provided me a link that says "computer won't start Windows 7", I have browsed it, and it gives suggestions, assuming your BIOS loads, here it doesn't. The only thing that the laptop does when I press the power button is just start the LEDs and the CPU fan, but that's about it.
The hardware reset you sent me seems to be broken as it doesn't load any page. Also I did try a memory/HDD reset, but didn't help much, as I said, I power it up and nothing happens.
Sorry I couldn't reply earlier, been a bit busy around.

I've found the problem a while ago, apparently the motherboard had a few parts melted doing to overheating and couldn't do propper connection with the CPU. Took it to a service and it works fine now, the problem is I cannot afford to do much with it again.
Can be a cause, I've tried everything from Memory/Storage to Hard Reset, but didn't work, check out to see if it's the case.
