Hey, to get to bios on some of hp's and compaq's laptops you have to press esc when starting up.

i just got a cq61 from my father in law today same issue i resolved it by reseating the cpu, give the socket a bit of a clean incase it has forighn meterial in it or something is bridgeing its possible a pin is not making contact or a joint has come away. bit low end as a system now but this fixed it for me.
