Hi All,

I have an HP 8570W and I have just had to reinstall Windows 7. The machine appears to work correctly as you would expect of a standard Windows 7 environment but none of the HP specific functions are working - not surprising because none of the HP drivers have been loaded. Unfortunately I no longer have the original HP disks and so I have downloaded all of the drivers and other files from the HP support website. This amounts to a huge number of drivers and when looking at the list of files available it isn't completely obvious whether certain files are needed for this particular machine. It looks like I have quite a lot of work ahead of me to return to machine to the factory new condition.

My question is whether there is a more straightforward way to obtain and load all of the appropriate files? It would be great to find an automated way of loading everything (as would happen if using an original HP disk).

I did find a huge file (798MB) on the HP site labelled as "HP Notebook xx70/xx75 Window 7 x64 Driver Pack" which seemed promising. After downloading and executing it I now have a large array of driver and other files but still have the task of identifying the necessary ones and installing them.

Any assistance would be gratefully received.

Hello,

Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum. Welcome !

The URL to download the drivers is here >> http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5257503

Select the OS type , also choose 32 or 64 bit edition and when it is ready, click the + button to expand it

You will see the drivers in different sections.

You definitely do NOT need to download them all but only those you need and those you want.

Additionally, you will be able to see that in each section you have different driver version - you do not need the old ones (unless in some very specific case scenario) -

for example Win 7 x64 edition - the first two are audio drivers - you just pick up the latest (from 2013),

Then 3 downloads for Chipset - you need them 3 - they are different

For graphics - 2 versions of NVidia and 1 of AMD - download the one based on what graphic card your PC model/modification has (either from AMD or from Nvidia) and download the latest version - not all

Same thing repeats below - choose only for the stuff you have and only the latest versions.

The BIOS, firmware and software updates are not required and I do not recommend you download them all.

Something additional - not related to drivers.

After installing (reinstalling) clean version of Windows 7, you will also have quite a lot of updates to apply from Windows Update.

Before running Windows Update, please apply 2 updates which informally classify as Service Pack 2 for Win 7
