Pavilion 17 Notebook-g130ds
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My entire computer has been compromised. I no longer have access to my C: drive, anything I touch on as far my taskbar I'm getting error messages 0x80070005, 0x800c0008 and code 1203. My current Microsoft acct has been linked to an old Microsoft acct I closed so anything I try to download its been stopped by the closed Microsoft acct and there's absolutely nothing I can do. I've tried rebooting to factory settings using the HP disks I purchased and they are not working. When I go into the system and try to add my acct name to the properties I instantly see that code S12545645 show up instead of the Micrososoft acct  I set up for my computer. I don't know what to do at this point.  Everytime I try to restore when I go into settings I notice my computer is being remotely changed by way of VPN settings and there is nothing I do to change it to prevent it from happening. Any advice would be helpful. I'm literally at the point where I want to throw this computer away but I just purchased it less than a year ago.

Hi:

Try a clean install of W10 by making your own plain W10 installation media by using the Media Creation tool at the link below.

I keep getting a error message stating the something is preventing the download from running error code 0x80070005 but the user its providing is a closed Microsoft acct not my current one

I recommend you download and make the W10 installation media from another PC.

Then you boot from it and hopefully it will by pass any intrusions.

Hello @keythfitzgerald

You do not need to throw the PC away - just calm down, relax and it will get fixed. 🙂

If you purchased the PC less than 1 year, your warranty should still be active -  can contact HP Support and HP will get the PC from you and fix it for free for you - contact HP:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp/product/HP-Pavilion-17-g100-Notebook-PC-series/8499304/model...

If you want to do it on your own:

If your computer originally came with Windows preinstalled by HP (as it should be) - it would be best to use the HP Recovery Media which will restore Windows, apps and everything to factory default partition. It will use your machine's licence for Windows and should automatically active Windows post installation.

If the Windows install disk doesn’t work for the above you can do the following to reformat your drive:

1. Download a Gparted ISO from here:
http://gparted.org/livecd.php

2. Once ready, you need to write the ISO to make a bootable media (e.g. bootable DVD or USB drive). Here is how:

* How to create bootable ISO on USB device >> http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows

or

* How to write ISO to DVD >> http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/burn-a-dvd-on-windows

Instructions are for Ubuntu ISO, but are example - please use the GParted ISO instead

3. When ready with the USB drive or with the DVD:

* Ensure Secure Boot is disabled  (if applicable for your model)

* Ensure Legacy mode is enabled (if applicable for your model)

* Save the UEFI/BIOS changes.

(if applicable for your model) Details>> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03653226

4. Eventually, please, shutdown the computer using the power button.

Insert the GParted USB thumdrive or the GParted DVD prepared previously

Power on the PC.

As soon as you press the power-on button, keep hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap).

This should open a HP Startup Menu which may look similar to this one

Choose F9 to open Boot options. Select the thumb drive as boot option.

5. Follow the on-screen instructions to run GParted

6. Boot from the Gparted CD/DVD disk.
7. Use Gparted to delete all partitions on the hard drive.
8. Under “Device” choose Create Partition Table to make a new partition table.
9. Create a NTFS partition (or you could wait and create a partition when installing Windows).

10. Restart the PC

11. Eventually, boot from the Windows install disk and install Windows.

You can order original HP Recovery USB device from this URL > https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-17-g100-notebook-pc-series/8499304/mode...

Choose Windows > Windows 10, scroll down to "Order Recovery Media - CD/DVD/USB"
