Anything else to try?  I've tried everything listed here, and spent 90 minutes on the phone with HP Support and tried all their alleged tricks, nothing is working.  They want me to send my computer in for repair. I've had it less than two months and I really can't be without my laptop for 2 weeks.  HELP!!!

I had the problem and got it working with one of the "tricks".  Then 2 weeks later it stopped charging again.  Then I tried a power supply from my other laptop and it charged fine so I called HP and they sent me a new power pack.  It's been working since.

Do you have another power supply you can try?

The laptop I had problems with is the 14" Envy dv4 with a 65 watt PS.  My other laptop is a 17" dv7 with a 120 watt PS.

Yes, tried another power supply.

I do think I figured this out.  There must be some setting in the firmware that will not charge the battery until it drops below a certain percentage.  I was at 96% when I got the not charging message.  I unplugged the AC power supply and ran on battery until I got to 90%.  Plugged the AC back in, and viola!  It's charging.

You think after spending 90 minutes on the phone with HP Tech Support, they would have mentioned such a simple thing.

They are sending me a box to ship them my 2 month old laptop for repair since it's still under warranty.  Won't be doing that now, clearly....

Note**

You must have your battery removed (but computer plugged into the AC) before it will let you uninstall "ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery."

This also worked for me. I also tried the way mentioned above, but it seems as if you must have the battery removed before it will allow you to uninstall ACPI Control Method Battery. It apparently re-installs it once it detects a battery in the machine again.

Under Device Manager,  click the icon that looks like a magnifying glass with a hard drive, it's a small icon

As comedyshel states earlier, batter charge has to be less than 90% before it will charge. After reading that I let the battery fall below 90% and VOILA, charging battery! You'd think documentation would exist on this feature, and HP support would know about it.
