Hi @Sam12281,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how stressful it is when you’ve reset your HP computer and now can’t log in it feels like you’re locked out of your own device. Don’t worry, we’ll go through the official HP steps to get you back in.

Common Reasons After Reset

  • Windows account password mismatch (especially if using a Microsoft account).
  • Network not connected during setup (needed for Microsoft account login).
  • Corrupted user profile after reset.
  • Device stuck in OOBE (Out-of-Box Experience) loop.

Recommended Fixes

1. Check Internet Connection

  • If you’re using a Microsoft account, the PC must be online.
  • Connect to Wi-Fi from the login screen:
    • Click the Network icon in the bottom-right corner.
    • Select your Wi-Fi and enter the password.

2. Try Local Account Login

  • If you created a local account during reset, use that username and password.
  • If unsure, try:
    • Username: Administrator
    • Password: (leave blank)

3. Use Microsoft Account Recovery

4. Boot into Safe Mode

  • Restart the PC and press F11 or Shift + RestartTroubleshootAdvanced OptionsStartup SettingsEnable Safe Mode.
  • Log in and create a new user account if needed.

5. If Stuck in Setup Loop

  • Press Shift + F10 to open Command Prompt.
  • Type: net user NewUser NewPassword /add|
              net localgroup administrators NewUser /add
  • Restart and log in with the new account.
