Hi, sidev2:

You would use the Vista driver from your notebook's support and driver page, which will normally work.

You can also read this helpful dv6000 upgrade guide to windows 7, which provides links to the various drivers that should work.

Hey Paul,

Been reading for a few hours and it seems you have a lot of quality insight...

I have a similiar problem, with a HP Pavilion dv2000/2500 with the windows vista programming.

Since the last update I've been unable to control, shut off, or adjust the sound. The control bar is not working and the 'no audio device' message is displayed behind the X on the bottom tool bar.

I've tried to download multiple drivers, times, etc. to no fix. I attempted your steps above and received the end message that the driver was unsuccessfully downloaded.

Any advice on the above?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi, Mike:

Please see if this vista driver works for you.

I am sorry, but I do not know how to troubleshoot many hardware issues other than throwing drivers at them.

If that method doesn't work, I back up my files and reinstall the operating system.

I find that approach saves me more time and effort than trying lots of things that don't work.

Regards,

Paul

Paul-

I searched for hours and tried several driver upgrades to remedy the problem, but your code mod was the only fix on this.

Thank you,

Mark
