hp 250 g5
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

We have recently purchased 2 HP 250 G5 laptops. It is necessary to encryptt he entire hard drive due to security reasons. We normally use Truecrypt as the encryption method. Unfortunately Truecrypt will not encrypt GPT formatted hard drives. I am therefore trying to convert the hard drive from GPT to MBR so I can use Truecrypt.

I have tried using Diskpart but when trying to clean the disk, I get a virtual disk service error and can go no further.

Can anyone suggest a good partition app that will allow me to deleet the existing 5 partitions and format the disk to FAt32 (MBR)

Can anyone help me resolve this please. BTW we are running windows7 64 bit.

Any help is much appreciated.

I have always had success with Paragon Software's Hard Disk Manager 15 Professional. I have had less success with other third-party partitioning software.

I was a Microsoft MVP for (2011-2015) five years and was given a evaluation license for the software. In good conscience I must give you information that as a disclaimer.

@Geoff56

You definitely should NOT format the filesystem as FAT32, as I don't believe that current Windows versions will even install on that filesystem.

You should format the filesystem as NTFS.

Also, if your current disk is larger than 2TB, you will only be able to use the first 2TB of the disk with NTFS and MBR.

Good Luck
