From: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01279508

supported part-number and CPU values:

448149-001 Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 1.8-GHz processor (includes replacement thermal material)

448146-001 Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 2.0-GHz processor (includes replacement thermal material)
448147-001 Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 2.2-GHz processor (includes replacement thermal material)
448148-001 Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 2.4-GHz processor (includes replacement thermal material)

but your computer originally came with Windows Vista, which gives a hint about its age, and, indirectly, about the slight possibility of a BIOS update that would support a quad-core CPU.

Intel also manufactured a T7800 at 2.6-GHz

I see a few eBay listings for the T7700, for about $10 US (before shipping).

I hate to intervene but the Manual posted above is correct but there are more options indicated in the Manual.

There are 2 possible motherboards. This laptop is one of the very rare models with an actual removeable video card.

The motherboard is only different in terms of the video card it will support.

Processors include this one:

Intel Core 2 Extreme processors (800-MHz FSB, 44-W): ● X9000, 2.8-GHz processor, 6-MB L2 cache 459610– 001

This is only a dual core processor not a Quad but is the top of the line Core 2 Duo. I doubt it would support a quad-core Q9000 or Q9100 as the fsb is different.

The X9000 is still pricey as it is a very strong processor...will run with most i5s:

I see that the fsb be different but with the q9100 being faster would that then go at a slower fsb speed then it normally would?

More likely it would not post at all.
