I am stuck at the part where you find the c://programfiles(x86)/spxxx   ... for me, there is nothing there after I ran the BIOS update. I've tried searching my computer for those specific files mentioned and they weren't there. Any ideas?

Not knowing exactly what bios you are trying to update, all I can speculate is HP may have changed the way the bios update is unpacked - hopefully they still unpack it - try searching your computer by "date modified - today" for all files while the app is running.
