I have this problem, and have tried to follow the advice to set processes to '4', but the drop down only has the option of '1' or '2'. Setting to '2' does not solve the issue. I am using a Pavillion x360 11" which I have only had a couple of months, and it is impossible to watch/listen to anything online because of the crackling sound. Very displeased, particularly because I choose the model because ofht 'beats audio' which was supposed to give me great sound.

Hi @JoanneLi,
Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!
I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion x360 Notebook constant crackling/buzzing noise.
1. Right click the Speaker icon in the bottom right corner by your time.
2. Click Playback Devices.
3. Click Speakers.
4. Click properties.
5. Click the advanced tab on the Properties window.
6. Change the Default Format drop-down to the highest quality.
7. Apply the properties.
8. Click OK to close the properties window. Restart your Notebook and try the sound.
You could try using the Windows Update Troubleshooting tool to fix any updates that have not come through for Windows. Please restart the Notebook twice to make sure all update have been completed.
I recommend to restore the BIOS defaults. You could restore the BIOS with this document selecting the reloading the BIOS default settings. This has helped others.
Please let me know how this goes.
