Hello @razorkerley
Welcome! Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum.
- Could you let me know what your full HP model. Here is how >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108
- Did it ever work - what happened/ changed recently ?
- Test for hardware issue and post back the results
1. Please, shutdown the computer using the power button
2. Power it on.
2.1 As soon as you press the power-on button, immediately begin hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap).
This should open a HP Startup Menu which may look similar to this one
3. Choose F2 to open System Diagnostics. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform System Test >> Quick test.
This will check major hardware componets for issue (do it just in case) . Here is more info >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03467259#AbT1
Looking forward to your reply.

Hello,
This is good news. This means the issue is not related to your hard disk drive but to operating system.
I want to be specific in providing you solution steps so I will ask you some questions to clarify.
I see your PC arrives usually with Windows 7 x64 preinstalled. You now write about Win 10 32 bit. Is the problem related to Windows 10 32bit (x86) or to Windows 10 x64 ?
How did you install Windows 10 on your PC ? Did you use the free W10 upgrade offer available from Microsoft (some time ago) or you performed clean install of Windows 10 wit HDD format ?
